Spanish Marina Newsletter

Greetings from Spanish everyone,

Spring is here finally;  it has been a long and very cold winter on the North Channel.  We have had little snow and even less rain this spring so far.  The water level is near record low.

The Dredging of the main channel to the Spanish Marina was not completed successfully. Logistic and mechanical problems as well as the extremely cold temperatures this winter, prevented the contractor to meet the environmental deadline.

The scenic route, the back channel, is still available for boaters to come into the Spanish Marina. This alternate channel was surveyed this spring and boats with a 5 foot draft can come in without problem. We will keep current information on the situation throughout the summer. When approaching Spanish, we recommend that the boaters contact the Marina on VHF channel 68 and our staff will provide you with up to date information on the water dept.

The Great Lakes Cruising Club Rendezvous is still scheduled to take place in Spanish between July 13 and July 17 this year.  Please take this into consideration when planning your vacations.

Our docks are being repaired and reconfigured as I write this message. We will have many more longer docks available to larger boats this summer. A double 30 amps electrical outlet is available at each 45foot docks. Smart Boxes (to convert the two 110volts/30amps into a 220volts/50amps) will be available at the Service docks for those boats requiring a 50amps/200volts service.
